Support for students with special needs

Students with special needs resulting from visual, hearing, physical and mental disabilities, or specific learning disabilities (dyslexia) and with serious chronic illness have a right for an adaptation of their study conditions.

Adaptation of study conditions is based on individual consultation with a councelor at the Handicap Advice office in the Information and Advice Service Center. Students with visual disabilities are recommended a Support Center of independent study TEREZA, located at the CTU Nuclear and Physical Engineering Faculty.

After successfully completing entrance exams and acceptance to study a Proposal of Study Adaptation will be prepared with a councelor according to students specific need and subject requirements.  All adaptations are made to change format but not lower academic standards. This Proposal is also introduced to the dean, but the specific modification outcome the consultation between student and teaching professor.

If during a course of study a student becomes disabled (serious illness or injury, appearance of dislexia) and special needs are required, a councelor will prepare a Proposal of Study Adaptation according to students specific needs and course requirements. All adaptations will be made to change format but not lower academic standards. This Propposal is also introduced to the dean and specific modification is consulted between student and teaching professor.

There are non-barrier rooms available for students with special needs at CTU dormitories.

Support for students with special needs at CTU is anchored in Methodical instruction about support for students with special needs.
