Sports facilities

The main sports organizer at CTU is The Institute of Physical Education and Sport (IPES) located at Pod Juliskou 4, Praha 6 -  Dejvice.

IPES offers not only all forms of regular courses in Physical Education but also organizes sports events and tournaments. There are 27 sport disciplines that students can choose from. The offer includes traditional sports, such as volleyball, soccer, basketball, swimming, table tennis, softball, hiking and canoeing, and combat sports, such as karate, aikido, budo and ninjitsu. Newer sports - floorball, squash, various forms of aerobics, golf, bowling, beach volleyball, climbing, frisbee, inline skating, archery - are also available. There are fitness centres and remedial facilities.
An important part of the work of IPES is to organize winter and summer training courses.
Students are provided with downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboard courses in winter, with  games, boating, hiking and cycling in summer. These courses are arranged in such a way that all students can choose the course which best suits their individual interest.
IPES organizes the representation of CTU at university sports events, the Czech Academic Games and at international meetings for students.
The university faculties also have well-established physical education teams and clubs: VSTJ at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, VSTJ Technica at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Prague, and VSK at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. There are teams that participate in regular sports events on a recreational level and/or on a highly competitive level.

The International Student Club organizes a considerable range of recreational sports activities aimed at Erasmus and exchange students who want to participate. Incoming students who are serious sportsmen/women and who wish to participate in competitive sports should either get into direct contact, via internet, with a relevant club, or should contact the International Office or the International Student Club before arriving. Sports clubs are usually very happy to welcome visiting students.
