Faculty of Civil Engineering has its first female dean
After more than 300 years of existence, CTU in Prague’s oldest faculty, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, has for the first time elected a female dean. Prof. Ing. Alena Kohoutková, CSc takes up the post in February 2010.
Between studying at the faculty and joining its staff, Prof Kohoutková worked for nine years at the Project Institute for Development of the Capital City of Prague. Her previous senior posts at the university have been as head of the department of concrete and masonry structures at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, as vice rector for studies, and as a member of the Scientific Council of CTU in Prague and of the University of Economics in Prague. Her research interests are in the area of building structures and concrete materials.
