Seznam.cz, the most visited Czech web portal in cooperation with CTU's Tripod project presented another of the lectures regarding portal
technologies in practice. The series of lectures runs at CTU for two years on regular basis – every Tuesday at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. On 11th December 2007 Jiri Psota, one of the Seznam's developers, introduced a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to the CTU students.
This cycle of 12 lectures provided for Czech universities has been held by Seznam.cz for three years now. It is based on cooperation of the CTU in Prague, BUT, MU in Brno and UWB in Pilsen. Each lecture focuses on an introduction and practical experience in development and operation of the most visited Czech web site. The lecturers are the Seznam's developers, administrators and project managers.
The lecture about SEO, held by Jiri Psota, covered topics such as increasing the position of the web sites in the Internet search engines like Seznam.cz or Google.com. Mr. Psota mentioned many techniques of the web sites optimization and also mentioned factors, which can lower the position or can even lead to complete removal of the site from the search engines results. The auditory which completely filled the classroom has been also given some time for asking questions at the end of the lecture.
